ORGANIC IS BETTER BLOG

Tips to Live Organically

After a holiday like Thanksgiving, your kitchen and oven may be in need of some TLC. Today’s blog dives into organic and natural methods to clean the star of your kitchen, the oven!

Method One – Baking Soda and Vinegar:

  • Mix a 1/2 cup of baking soda with water to form a paste.
  • Spread the paste over the interior surfaces of the oven, avoiding the heating elements.
  • Let it sit overnight or for at least 12 hours.
  • Wipe away the baking soda paste with a damp cloth.
  • Spray the interior with white vinegar to remove any remaining residue.

Method Two – Citrus Cleaner:

  • Mix equal parts water and lemon juice or white vinegar in a spray bottle.
  • Spray the mixture on the oven surfaces.
  • Let it sit for about 30 minutes.
  • Wipe away the dirt and grime with a damp cloth.

Method Three – Steam Cleaning:

  • Place a heatproof dish filled with water in the oven.
  • Heat the oven to 250°F (120°C) and let it sit for 20-30 minutes.
  • The steam will loosen the grime, making it easier to wipe away.

Method Four – Castile Soap and Essential Oils:

  • Mix a tablespoon of liquid Castile soap with water.
  • Add a few drops of essential oils like tea tree or eucalyptus for antibacterial properties and a pleasant scent.
  • Use a sponge or cloth to scrub the oven surfaces.

Method Five – Lemon and Salt:

  • Sprinkle salt over oven spills.
  • Squeeze lemon juice over the salt.
  • Allow it to sit for 10-15 minutes, then scrub with a brush or sponge.

Remember to check your oven’s manual for any specific cleaning instructions or restrictions, and always make sure the oven is turned off and cool before attempting to clean it.
