Tips to Live Organically

The kitchen sink often serves as a centerpiece of the house – and gets a lot of use! Today we share a recipe to keep your sink clean using green and organic ingredients.

Ingredients

  • Baking Soda
  • Vinegar
  • Lemon
  • Dish Soap – choose an eco-friendly option
  • Sponge or Microfiber Cloth
  • Small Scrub Brush (an old toothbrush works great!)
  • Reusable Cleaning Cloth or Paper Towel
  • Olive Oil 

Recipe

  1. Make sure your sink area is clear of any dishes. 
  2. Give the sink a warm water rinse to remove any lingering food scraps.
  3. Sprinkle Baking Soda all over the sink surface. This will help remove dirt and grime.
  4. Use a microfiber cloth or sponge to scrub the sink. For stubborn areas and corners, use an old toothbrush.
  5. Rinse the sink with warm water again.  
  6. Slice a lemon in half and rub the cut side of the lemon along the sink’s surface. This will help any lingering odors dissipate. 
  7. Fill a spray bottle with equal amounts of water and vinegar. Spray the sink with this solution and let it sit for a few minutes, This will disinfect and remove any mineral deposits. 
  8. Rinse the sink with warm water again.
  9. Use the cleaning cloth or paper towel to dry the sink. 
  10. Put a small amount of the eco-friendly dish soap on a damp cloth. Rub into the sink. This will remove any remaining residue and grease. 
  11. Put a small amount of olive oil on a damp cloth and rub it all over the sink’s surface. This will help with any water drops and also give your sink a nice shine. 
  12. Enjoy your organically cleaned sink!
